This week we bring on one of our long-time idols and guru for all things motivational, CHRISTINE HASSLER. Basically, she's a personal transformation genius - along with a bestselling author, podcast host, TV show host on TLC, & keynote speaker. She's a go-to mind for seeking clarity in any part of life, whether it's love, relationships, careers, personal goals, and most importantly, the immense change that happens in your 20's and 30's.

By the time she was 25, she was the youngest agent in Hollywood, getting promoted, attending all of the award shows, making more money than most people her age, and dating a hot-shot producer. She had it all ... but did she? That's what we dive into. This realization that she wasn't truly doing things for herself sparked her big transition, which included quitting her job, going in debt, and losing the love her life by the time she was 26. So needless to say, things were changing and she decided to do something about it. MAJOR KEYWORDS here, people: beliefs, decisions, change, identity ... Krista and Lindsey are so excited to welcome Kimberly Rae Miller to the podcast this week!  #Almost30nation listeners who attended the "Love Your Body" event got to read Kimberly's new book Beautiful Bodies before anyone else!  The response has been, well, beautiful.  Kimberly brings a balanced dose of humor, curiosity, depth, and vulnerability to the body positive space.  

As a child model, she became aware of her body at a very young age.  Kimberly shares what it was like dieting alongside her mom to prepare for a beauty pageant, how her obsession with being perfect stemmed from her father's hoarding, and how the exhaustion with ALL of this eventually inspired her to examine the connection between her upbringing and her relationship with her body.  We unwrap:

  • How being honest about your broken parts opens up a healing conversation  
  • Her first book "Coming Clean", a memoir about her upbringing in a hoarder's household

Oh, this episode is just a couple of models just having a discussion about models doing model things. JUST KIDDING. But, what a discussion that would be ... On the real tho, Krista and Linds sat down this week with a #reallifemodel KARI CALHOUN, one of the most popular names in America's Next Top Model history (Season 21, what uppppp!). And we get to all the details, from start to finish on her model journey. 


We talk about her story, moving from Dallas to Iowa to Los Angeles, and why she fell in love with the city full of so many opportunities. (She literally hopped off the plane at LAX) Although at first she never took her modeling career seriously, she got signed to a boutique agency and started going to auditions, which were as intense as people say they are. There was a long period where Kari's lack of confidence was showing through the camera & kept her asking "Why am I not getting it?" or "What am I doing wrong?" So how did she get her groove back? Soul searching, not giving a f*ck, letting go, taking everything step-by-step, & realizing the auditions that best fit HER.


Kari also lays down the law when it comes to #INSTAMODELS & why they shouldn't be honored or idolized. "What goes viral about you should be your character and how you live your life, " she explains. MIC FRICKEN DROP. And in addition, she touches on how gratitude can get lost during the hustle. SUCH A GOOD POINT!

Okay ladies + gents ... this episode is a BIG ONE. Not only do we have one but TWO guests, Danielle and Whitney of Sakara Life. They've known each other since they were twelve in Arizona, and moved to the Big Apple for their dreams of modeling and working on Wall Street. But as time passed, their struggles grew along with their go-go-go kind of lifestyle. Things basically got CRAY ... fast. Everything started to add up, from going-out, getting acne, drinking, eating out all of the time, working 80 hours/week, and not taking the time to take care of themselves. And this is how their new new lifestyle started.

They both had a lot of healing and needed to remind each other food is medicine. So from there they started being their own guinea pigs, and cooking their own meals and creating their own recipes. Eventually, they knew they were on to something, and they started delivering meals on their bikes around NYC to their clients.

In terms of the food science aspects of living the Sakara Life, here are some vital topics we touched on:

  • micro biome = bacteria living in your gut
  • 95% of serotonin is made in the gut
  • eating the right food helps that good bacteria thrive, and visa versa
  • adding greens is KEY to every meal - smoothies, sandwiches, soups, etc.
  • eat well and don't stress about it because studies show that stress/anxiety leads to aging faster
  • science points to plants as the key to anti-aging
  • eating a VARIETY of plants is important because it builds the different types of amino acids your body needs
  • studies also show that your personality is more present when eating healthy
