CATCH UP WITH K + L

K + L kick off today with holiday reflection time! The ladies ended their tour in Miami, which turned into a little vacay with some friends, family, and their significant others. Tune in to hear about their clubbin’, beachin’, and shroomin’ adventures! For Christmas, L journeyed into the desert with her family, then spent some dreamy time in New York with her boyfriend. K went the atypical route of spending less time with her family this holiday season. She shares how she spent this much needed decompression and alone time, and her total ‘life edit’ that took place. K + L also delve into the feelings that surfaced, and how they support themselves in those low moments.

Be sure to check out the newly launched Your PodcastPro, which is available for enrollment over the next 2 weeks!

THE INTERVIEW

Today we are digging into the male perspective on upleveling with Heath Ellis! As a Soul Coach for Men, Heath helps men shift the trajectory of their lives and come into alignment with their purpose—what he calls “the path of the conscious man.” Krista’s fiancé, Justin, had a very impactful coaching session with Heath, and is joining in on the conversation.

Heath shares how he was not always on this path of self-knowing, and completely changed the direction of his life in his late 20s. Although successful, he was miserable in his job, and decided to change the course of his life after a meditation retreat and his Akashic Records reading (aka your soul’s record). In our conversation, we talk greatly about the differences in the masculine and feminine approaches to healing. Heath explores holding vs. creating space, patterns of limiting beliefs, and steps to helping men be more sovereign. He explains his structure for checking in with your partner on how each of you is doing, and Krista and Justin share how they implement this practice. We wrap up the conversation with insightful books, and Heath reveals the key to a successful self-care ritual.

Heath is offering 30% off single coaching sessions using the code ALMOST30 at consciousman.com/impact-sessions.

We also talk about:

-Why Heath left his software company

-How Heath began shifting problems and pain points

-What are Akashic Records?

-How men hold space for each other

-What women can do to help the men in their life

-Making vulnerability sexy for men

-Codependency

-Fear & lack of self-acceptance

-How men can hold space for women

-Holding space & listening without needing to respond

CATCH UP WITH K + L

Tune in for some exciting announcements! On Sunday, January 19 at 5pm PST, K + L are hosting a free live training. They will be giving their 5 tips on how to get your first 1,000 listens and turn it into a million! After the webinar, your PodcastPro 2.0 launches. It is designed to help you launch, grow, and monetize your own podcast based on what has and has not worked for K + L. In this catch up sesh, the ladies also reflect on their growth with Almost 30, and why podcasting is their medium of choice.

THE SOLO

In today’s solo episode with Lindsey, she is diving deep into the power of your voice. She explores how it’s an expression of your soul, why alignment affects communication, and tangible takeaways to keep your voice in tiptop shape. Lindsey unpacks how this not only applies to singing, but our ability to communicate and express ourselves.

Lindsey takes you on a journey, exploring periods in life that influenced her self-expression—like being bullied in 8th grade—to where she is now. Her current vocal coach has been integral in her understanding of ‘allowing’ vs. ‘pushing,’ and she invites you to explore ways this applies to you. Lindsey also shares questions to ask yourself to acknowledge physical and emotional blocks, how to warm up your voice for communication and singing, and breath work for opening and surrendering.

She also talks about:

-Why we limit our self-expression

-L’s college relationship vs. current relationship

-How failing to ground affects communication

-The ways we make things more difficult

-How to check in with yourself + nourish yourself

-Revisiting your childlike self

Krista admits what she recently learned aboutInstagram story highlights, and they ladies share some funny DMs.

THE INTERVIEW

She is an icon, a complete open book, and always speaks her damn truth—please welcome comedian Nikki Glaser! If you’re familiar with Nikki’s comedy, you know she doesn’t hold back. We breakdown what it means to show up, hold space, and be a meaningful presence for those around us. Lalah reveals the essence of being a vibrational being, and how it influences the way we connect with others and experience the world. She provides guidance for learning to let your intuition lead you, and mantras for mindfulness.

CATCH UP WITH K + L

Is it a negative sign to feel pain after the chiropractor? Or could it be locked up emotions that need to be released? Krista is looking for your feedback! K + L also share a personal anecdote from an Almost 30 listener. This sparks a conversation around the power of micro impacts and how messages come to us at the right time.

THE INTERVIEW

Buckle up for today’s episode with Georgetown University professor and New York Times bestselling author, Cal Newport! Cal has written six books, including Digital Minimalism, Deep Work, and So Good They Can’t Ignore You. Today, we are scratching the surface of these incredibly powerful and insightful reads.

Are you searching for an answer as to why we compulsively look at our phones? Cal reveals the role Facebook and social approval indicators have played in our increased usage. We talk about how phones keep us from feeling boredom and loneliness, and why feeling boredom is actually beneficial. When it comes to the concept of ‘deep work,’ Cal explains why it is a valuable yet rare skill, and how practicing it will allow you to produce higher quality work at a faster rate. He explains factors that affect our ability to do deep work, and we discuss how being unavailable due to an appointment is more socially acceptable than taking deep work time. We then ask Cal why “follow your passion” is actually bad advice, and he shares how passion is something you cultivate over time, which leads to fulfillment and success in your career.

You’ll learn daily hacks for minimizing the time on your phone, and a strategy for families that want to use phones as a tool versus a constant companion. Cal emphasizes being intentional about what you use, why you use it, and how you use it. Let’s go!

We also talk about:

-Why ‘focusing’ takes practice

-How deep work reduces the phenomenon “attention residue”

-The effect of A.I. on deep work

-How servicing communications affect our anxiety levels

-The positives and negatives of “Screen Time”

-The way social media helps sell books

-Facebook compared to the original idea for the internet

CATCH UP WITH K + L

Today K + L begin by spotlighting Joe Rogan’s interview with Edward Snowden. They discuss the increase in censorship and shift in power after 9/11, then pivot to chatting about Joe’s ability to be a bada$$ + rad dad at the same time. Get ready for some lol’s as K recounts her story involving a police case, ridiculous clothes for Coachella, and a hit and run! Then L shares her friend’s experience with a medical procedure gone wrong—highlighting the importance of second opinions, asking questions, and being your own advocate in a doctors office.

THE INTERVIEW

Today we are vibin’ so high with this powerful and impactful episode. It resonates so deeply with us; we can’t wait to share it with you. Our guest, Aaron Rose, is a conscious culture and life design coach, and motivational speaker. We recently started working with him to expand our knowledge on being conscious leaders.

Today Aaron joins us to illustrate his journey of growth, and how he began living his truth after growing up in a religious household that limited self-expression. For example, Aaron talks about the family newspaper he started to advocate for himself due to the discord he felt toward their religion’s lack of acceptance. He shares his coming out process, the painful conversations of trying to explain himself to his family, and how his relationship has evolved with them over the years. We then ask what it means to be ‘real’ on Instagram, and love Aaron’s answer about searching for our relatable brilliance versus flaws.

We also talk about being triggered—understanding when you’re being triggered, what to do, and the importance of allowing your emotions to flow through you. Aaron shares how dropping into your heart and cleaning up energetic patterns creates change. To wrap up, he shares his favorite books, and we spend some time nerding out on The Lord of the Rings!

We also talk about:

-How being fully present with others can create discomfort

-Aaron’s early experiences of discrimination

-How in conflict we still yearn for connection

-His involvement in social justice projects in high school and later

-How we are addicted to the lows

-Aaron’s relationship with God & faith

Lindsey shares a friend’s psychic dream that involved L and a new romance, then Krista illustrates her recent natural disaster dreams and the meaning behind them. THE INTERVIEW

Today we are joined by the founder and CEO of Tress for Us and host of Girl We Got This podcast, Laticia Rolle! We can’t express enough admiration for Laticia. She is the definition of a true friend with her unwavering support and love. Growing up in a large family and as an athlete for most of her life, Laticia’s life has always revolved around creating sisterhood and meaningful relationships—which is a central part of today’s conversation.

Laticia vulnerably shares her experience with her parent’s divorce, toxic relationships, and cheating. We talk about the lows that come from heartbreak, the comparison game, and the incessant checking of the other girl’s Instagram. We explore the reasons women don’t leave cheaters, and Laticia explains why she finally ended her toxic relationship. She expresses the importance of asking for help, especially when you start over.

We ask how Laticia began fostering her authentic self, particularly after being surrounded by high-profile individuals and extreme wealth, which influenced who she ‘had’ to be. A huge takeaway from our conversation is how we need to stop comparing ourselves to other women, and begin owning the beauty and uniqueness that is YOU.

We also talk about:

-Why Laticia loves modeling

-Defining loyalty after toxic relationships

-Gas-lighting

-Women’s intuition

-Laticia’s inner dialogue while being cheated on

-Fighting for yourself and choosing yourself

-The role guilt plays in women’s lives

CATCH UP WITH K + L

Today’s episode begins with K + L talking about moving your body and releasing emotions! Krista shares her airplane bathroom experience, and Justin’s wtf reaction to her suggesting he scream into a pillow. The ladies then reflect on the Divine Feminine Reawakening ceremony that took place at the Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. It was a day of connecting, healing, intuitive movement, and a beautiful cacao ceremony for opening the heart. K + L gush over the amazing plant-based menu from the day… L found herself sneaking a cookie in her pocket for later, duh.

THE INTERVIEW

Today we had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Stephen Cabral! He’s a naturopathic doctor, Ayurvedic functional medicine and integrative health practitioner, and author of The Rain Barrel Effect. Dr. Cabral begins by explaining the difference between Eastern and Western medicine, and stresses the need to have both a natural health practitioner and medical doctor. He shares the health issues he struggled with, like Addison's disease, which led him into functional and naturopathic medicine. Our conversation then covers a whole host of wellness topics—from hormone imbalance, mind-body connection, anxiety and supplements, toxins in skincare and food, and Ayurvedic doshas. We ask about alcohol’s effect on the body, how it affects sleep, and if you’re going to drink, when’s the best time. At the end, Dr. Cabral explains when women should begin preparing their bodies for pregnancy and the big five labs to get done. He is truly a wealth of knowledge, so get your notebooks out!

We also talk about:

-Hormonal imbalance and cortisol levels

-How cortisol affects sugar levels

-Examples of deficiency leading to anxiety

-When people should begin to supplement

-The different types of labs to look at your vitamin levels

-Steps to take to learn more about your food sensitivities

-The clean fifteen and the dirty dozen lists for pesticides

-What we’ve learned from The Blue Zones about health

-How carbs and protein affect cortisol levels

-Ayurvedic doshas, body types, and mental state

-Research Dr. Stephen is passionate about
