THE INTERVIEW

In times like this, we all need a little art in our ears — and IN-Q is the oasis of inspiration that our souls are craving right now. He’s a national poetry slam champion, an award-winning poet, a multi-platinum songwriter, and his new book Inquire Within is out now. If you ever get the chance to hear him live, do it. Listening to him recite his poetry live is so powerful and mesmerizing. Even though he’s sharing his own thoughts and feelings, he invites the audience to go inside themselves and ask how they feel about it. In this episode we explore the life of a poet and creator, finding inspiration, and learning to make a living with your art.  AND LISTEN UNTIL THE END!! In-Q performs a few pieces of his work that Krista and Lindsey request. The girls will never forget this one.

We also talk about:

  • Balancing your ego with being present
  • How vulnerability leads to empathy
  • How community influences art
  • The stories we tell ourselves
  • Making money while maintaining artistic integrity
  • Getting over your resistance
  • Remembering that you have a choice in your life
  • Greed + conscious capitalism

CATCH UP WITH K + L

Even though the state of the world is uneasy right now, people are supporting people in such a beautiful way — and K+L want to celebrate that! Remember, all of the things that are happening in the world right now will pass as we step into our light. If you need some support in these times, you can find a community of super supportive women in the secret Almost 30 Facebook groups.

THE INTERVIEW

Julie Nguyen lived the first 30 years of her life believing that her health problems were chronic and incurable. When she realized that changing her diet improved her mood, her eczema, her weight, and her happiness, she had to share that life-changing info with others. But she ran into a roadblock: healthy food has a branding problem, and the bland food churned out by the ‘health food’ industry isn’t doing anything to help it. Julie devoted her life to making healthy, tasty food and nutrition education more accessible through Methodology, an innovative company that delivers fresh, chef-curated food to your door. Not all heroes wear capes, and not all medicine comes in capsules.

If you’d like to try Methodology, K + L have a promo code. Visit gomethodology.com and use the code ALMOST30 for 20% off your first delivery.

We also talk about:

  • Julie’s journey with food + health issues
  • Going to college as a Vietnamese immigrant
  • Connecting health issues + emotional stressors
  • Transitioning from finance to tech
  • Finding a functional medicine doctor
  • How our environment impacts our health + diet
  • Advice for female entrepreneurs

THE SOLO

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been overwhelmed. 🙌 At some point or another it’s a feeling we’ve all had to uncomfortably confront — you’re not alone. In today’s solo episode with Lindsey, she shares how she has dealt with the feeling of overwhelm head on. Although it is tempting to avoid, Lindsey has learned to embrace the feeling because it is one of the most powerful opportunities for growth that the Universe gives us. When we’re open to understanding how and why it happens, we can harness that energy and turn it into something incredible.

Lindsey has been feeling this ebb and flow of overwhelm over the past two years, and with that consistency, she had to ask: What is the purpose of this overwhelm? She shares the answers that came through during a channeled writing session with her higher self, why she avoided overwhelm for so long, and 3 tips for reframing the idea of being overwhelmed.

We also talk about:

  • Where we learn that overwhelm is bad
  • How overwhelm is a challenge to our ego + why that’s a gift
  • Doing the inner work necessary to understand why you are avoiding overwhelm
  • Increasing your tolerance for overwhelm
  • Using breathwork to center yourself
  • Harnessing your daydreams

THE INTERVIEW

Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt joins us today for a conversation on forgiveness. Her new book, The Gift of Forgiveness, gives readers an opportunity to deeply understand the act of forgiving and how doing so can positively affect everyone involved. But let’s be real: Forgiveness is SO layered. It requires us to be vulnerable, release the ego, and allow change. Katherine’s book speaks to those layers and how we can work out our “forgiveness muscle” daily. Newly married, Katherine gushes about her relationship with Chris Pratt and shares how forgiveness will always play a huge role in their relationship. We are all going to be faced with opportunities to forgive, and Katherine’s hope is that, by reading the inspiring stories of those who were able to forgive in situations you wouldn’t imagine, you will be able to move forward in practicing forgiveness in your life.

We also talk about:

  • Her book, I Just Graduated… Now What? and why she felt inspired to speak to this formative time
  • How Katherine got over her fear of sharing details about her life
  • How forgiveness can be a gift you give yourself
  • How to ask for help + advice when you need it
  • The process of finding stories for her book
  • The physicality of holding on to anger
  • Times when you don’t have to forgive
  • Forgiveness within relationships

K & L have some exciting information to share about the 2020 Almost 30 retreat coming up in May! They’ve invited their favorite healers, speakers, tarot card readers, astrologists, trainers, and more to support women through this life-changing experience! If you  feel like you need four days away in a beautiful Malibu oasis to deeply connect with yourself and other women, this retreat is for YOU!

THE SOLO

Krista is exploring this one popular concept in today’s episode: authenticity.Catch that gag reflex! Although authenticity has become such a buzz word cliche lately that it doesn’t really mean anything, that’s exactly why it’s worth discussing. K & L were recently asked how they were so authentic during an interview and it gave Krista some pause because it’s not a word that she identifies with. It feels like a word that doesn’t allow you to change. This is why Krista wants to hash out the details of what true authenticity really is, and how we can balance being an authentic human while also allowing ourselves to change and grow.

We also talk about:

  • Why K hasn’t identified with the term “authentic”
  • The benefits of authenticity
  • K’s goals for her future self
  • How growth and authenticity interplay
  • Accepting growth as a part of yourself
  • Being authentic to the person you are at any given time
  • The expression of the true self

THE INTERVIEW

Today we are digging into the male perspective on upleveling with Heath Ellis! As a Soul Coach for Men, Heath helps men shift the trajectory of their lives and come into alignment with their purpose—what he calls “the path of the conscious man.” Krista’s fiancé, Justin, had a very impactful coaching session with Heath, and is joining in on the conversation.

Heath shares how he was not always on this path of self-knowing, and completely changed the direction of his life in his late 20s. Although successful, he was miserable in his job, and decided to change the course of his life after a meditation retreat and his Akashic Records reading (aka your soul’s record). In our conversation, we talk greatly about the differences in the masculine and feminine approaches to healing. Heath explores holding vs. creating space, patterns of limiting beliefs, and steps to helping men be more sovereign. He explains his structure for checking in with your partner on how each of you is doing, and Krista and Justin share how they implement this practice. We wrap up the conversation with insightful books, and Heath reveals the key to a successful self-care ritual.

Heath is offering 30% off single coaching sessions using the code ALMOST30 at consciousman.com/impact-sessions.

THE SOLO

In today’s solo episode with Lindsey, she is diving deep into the power of your voice. She explores how it’s an expression of your soul, why alignment affects communication, and tangible takeaways to keep your voice in tiptop shape. Lindsey unpacks how this not only applies to singing, but our ability to communicate and express ourselves.

Lindsey takes you on a journey, exploring periods in life that influenced her self-expression—like being bullied in 8th grade—to where she is now. Her current vocal coach has been integral in her understanding of ‘allowing’ vs. ‘pushing,’ and she invites you to explore ways this applies to you. Lindsey also shares questions to ask yourself to acknowledge physical and emotional blocks, how to warm up your voice for communication and singing, and breath work for opening and surrendering.

She also talks about:

  • Why we limit our self-expression
  • L’s college relationship vs. current relationship
  • How failing to ground affects communication
  • The ways we make things more difficult
