CATCH UP WITH K + L

K + L are celebrating Almost 30 nation. Today they are highlighting an inspiring message from community member, Lucinda! This sparks a conversation around pursuing your passion, quitting your job, and the energetic compensation from creating art. Krista admits what she recently learned aboutInstagram story highlights, and they ladies share some funny DMs.

THE INTERVIEW

She is an icon, a complete open book, and always speaks her damn truth—please welcome comedian Nikki Glaser! If you’re familiar with Nikki’s comedy, you know she doesn’t hold back. She shares how, as a child, she learned to keep quiet because her dark humor wasn’t received well. Comedy gave her permission to be herself, so she’s passionate about being that open and honest voice for women. Be sure to checkout Bangin’, her recent stand-up special on Netflix, as well as her morning radio show, You Up With Nikki Glaser.

In today’s conversation, we dive deep into the fear of intimacy, expectations around dating, self-worth & appearance, and sexual relationships. Nikki vulnerably shares how intimacy and sex don’t come naturally to her, and how recently she’s focused on creating a friendship before entering a romantic relationship. She shares her view on orgasms and her new rule when it comes to compliments. We talk about how society places such an emphasis on aesthetic and appearance, and how this can be damaging for women more than men. Nikki also shares her evolution of self-care, including no longer drinking alcohol, and how transcendental meditation helped her overcome depression.

We also talk about:

  • Being sheltered as a kid
  • Managing men’s emotions
  • Commitment before sex
  • Playing games with guys
  • Why Nikki quit drinking
  • Leaning into your feelings

CATCH UP WITH K + L

K + L are coming at you from their new studio! They kick off today’s conversation by sharing a deeply resonating quote. Arriving to our truth, the purity of our essence, and allowing ourselves to be are some of the ideas the ladies discuss. Also tune in for L’s story about her peculiar neighbors and their hallway gym!

THE INTERVIEW

Today we are sitting down with writer, illustrator, and author of Am I There Yet?, Mari Andrew! In our conversation, we talk greatly about emotions and creativity—from growing up as a creative, self-parenting, emotional intelligence, boundaries, and public vulnerability. Mari shares her experience as an only child who never fit in, but knew adult life would be different. She reflects on how this allowed her to really explore her soul through writing, stories, and poetry, although she didn’t identify as a creative person when she was younger. Mari opens up about being estranged from her father for six years before he died, and the spectrum of emotions that accompanied that loss. We also talk about the difficulties that come with dating, what inspires Mari to get out of a creative block, and her struggle with recovery from her autoimmune disease.

We also talk about:

  • Traveling solo
  • Feeling comfortable being alone
  • Bringing yourself out of your own circumstance
  • Why Mari decided to write a book
  • Deriving self-worth from a man
  • Self-parenting and knowing your worth
  • Putting energy into all areas of life vs. a new relationship
  • Importance of play & laughter
  • What’s in store for 2020

CATCH UP WITH K + L

K + L are kicking off the new year with some honest conversation and inward reflection! They explore what it means to embody gratitude and live in joy, while also moving through the difficult times in life. They share how they’ve been feeling about their workflow, and how their previous corporate jobs have benefited them today. You’ll also learn who makes up the amazing team of Almost 30!

THE INTERVIEW

Today we are joined by holistic psychologist, Dr. Nicole LePera! We love following her inspiring posts on Instagram that give insight and tools into mental wellness and healing. Dr. LePera begins by sharing how she struggled with high anxiety for most of her life, which led her into self-researching ways to heal. She emphasizes the importance of consistency with diet, sleep, and movement for helping to lower anxiety and regulate a dis-regulated nervous system. We ask about anxiety around sleep, and Dr. LePera explains how retraining our focus to be outside of our mind through breath work can help with sleep issues. She unpacks how we create stories about ourselves based on others’ behavior, and how to depersonalize those experiences. We also dive into authenticity in relationships, the power of our subconscious mind, and the connection between anxiety and being out of alignment.

We also talk about:

  • Nutrition and lifestyle affecting anxiety
  • Gut health and emotional wellness
  • Changing the definition of trauma
  • Big ’T’ vs. little ’t’ trauma
  • Bringing awareness to our emotions
  • Familiarity and our subconscious
  • Boundary vs. ultimatum
  • Highest self work
