CATCH UP WITH K + L

Is it a negative sign to feel pain after the chiropractor? Or could it be locked up emotions that need to be released? Krista is looking for your feedback! K + L also share a personal anecdote from an Almost 30 listener. This sparks a conversation around the power of micro impacts and how messages come to us at the right time.

THE INTERVIEW

Buckle up for today’s episode with Georgetown University professor and New York Times bestselling author, Cal Newport! Cal has written six books, including Digital Minimalism, Deep Work, and So Good They Can’t Ignore You. Today, we are scratching the surface of these incredibly powerful and insightful reads.

Are you searching for an answer as to why we compulsively look at our phones? Cal reveals the role Facebook and social approval indicators have played in our increased usage. We talk about how phones keep us from feeling boredom and loneliness, and why feeling boredom is actually beneficial. When it comes to the concept of ‘deep work,’ Cal explains why it is a valuable yet rare skill, and how practicing it will allow you to produce higher quality work at a faster rate. He explains factors that affect our ability to do deep work, and we discuss how being unavailable due to an appointment is more socially acceptable than taking deep work time. We then ask Cal why “follow your passion” is actually bad advice, and he shares how passion is something you cultivate over time, which leads to fulfillment and success in your career.

You’ll learn daily hacks for minimizing the time on your phone, and a strategy for families that want to use phones as a tool versus a constant companion. Cal emphasizes being intentional about what you use, why you use it, and how you use it. Let’s go!

We also talk about:

  • Why ‘focusing’ takes practice
  • How deep work reduces the phenomenon “attention residue”
  • The effect of A.I. on deep work
  • How servicing communications affect our anxiety levels
  • The positives and negatives of “Screen Time”
  • The way social media helps sell books
  • Facebook compared to the original idea for the internet

CATCH UP WITH K + L

Get ready for story time with K + L! Krista and her fiancé, Justin, recently attended a comedy show. As always, K + L don’t hold back when it comes to being vulnerable and honest about certain experiences. Each share what ‘trying too hard’ looks like for them, and Lindsey openly recounts how past experiences have sharpened her moral compass. CATCH UP WITH K + L

K + L kick off today’s episode talking all about emotions! K explores how she’s learning to be comfortable in the uncomfortable, and shares how she’s been feeling since announcing her engagement. The ladies delve into how it isn’t your job to manage others’ experiences, especially when they are displacing their emotions onto you, and the importance of not reacting from an emotional state. L then reveals how she’s been feeling about L O V E — tune in to get some deets on the guy she’s currently dating, and her wild dream about him!

THE INTERVIEW

Buckle up for today’s LIVE event with internationally known voice coach, sound healer, and angel communicator—Stewart Pearce! We are stoked to share this with you because Stewart’s work is incredibly powerful, and we truly feel he is an angel in human form. Instead of the normal Q&A interview experience, today’s episode is more workshop style. Stewart takes us through an exercise to find YOUR signature note and sound! He explains how this tool brings you back into harmony, allowing you to find your power by being grounded and rooted in the center of your being. Stewart also talks about speaking from the heart versus the mind, how the quality of someone’s voice shows their integrity, and balancing ‘doing’ with ‘being.’ We wrap up with some audience Q&A, and you’ll learn how to make this a daily practice!

We also talk about:

  • Personality as the sum of our being
  • How Greeks & Romans viewed the power of voice
  • How our sound brings our entire being into harmony
  • Love for the sake of love vs. love for the sake of being loved
  • Mindfulness and meditation

CATCH UP WITH K + L

Today K + L begin by spotlighting Joe Rogan’s interview with Edward Snowden. They discuss the increase in censorship and shift in power after 9/11, then pivot to chatting about Joe’s ability to be a bada$$ + rad dad at the same time. Get ready for some lol’s as K recounts her story involving a police case, ridiculous clothes for Coachella, and a hit and run! Then L shares her friend’s experience with a medical procedure gone wrong—highlighting the importance of second opinions, asking questions, and being your own advocate in a doctors office.

THE INTERVIEW

Today we are vibin’ so high with this powerful and impactful episode. It resonates so deeply with us; we can’t wait to share it with you. Our guest, Aaron Rose, is a conscious culture and life design coach, and motivational speaker. We recently started working with him to expand our knowledge on being conscious leaders.

Today Aaron joins us to illustrate his journey of growth, and how he began living his truth after growing up in a religious household that limited self-expression. For example, Aaron talks about the family newspaper he started to advocate for himself due to the discord he felt toward their religion’s lack of acceptance. He shares his coming out process, the painful conversations of trying to explain himself to his family, and how his relationship has evolved with them over the years. We then ask what it means to be ‘real’ on Instagram, and love Aaron’s answer about searching for our relatable brilliance versus flaws.

We also talk about being triggered—understanding when you’re being triggered, what to do, and the importance of allowing your emotions to flow through you. Aaron shares how dropping into your heart and cleaning up energetic patterns creates change. To wrap up, he shares his favorite books, and we spend some time nerding out on The Lord of the Rings!

We also talk about:

  • How being fully present with others can create discomfort
  • Aaron’s early experiences of discrimination
  • How in conflict we still yearn for connection
  • His involvement in social justice projects in high school and later
  • How we are addicted to the lows
  • Aaron’s relationship with God & faith
  • How Aaron’s work has impacted individuals, teams, work cultures

Today K + L are kicking it off with dreams and ways to cleanse your home from unwanted energy! Have you ever experienced a psychic dream? Lindsey shares a friend’s psychic dream that involved L and a new romance, then Krista illustrates her recent natural disaster dreams and the meaning behind them. Krista breaks down the exact way she’s been cleansing her apartment - from playing sounds that break up stuck energy, burning palo santo, and smudge sprays by Tisha Morris, you’ll learn some fun new ways to cleanse your home’s energy!

THE INTERVIEW

Today we are joined by the founder and CEO of Tress for Us and host of Girl We Got This podcast, Laticia Rolle! We can’t express enough admiration for Laticia. She is the definition of a true friend with her unwavering support and love. Growing up in a large family and as an athlete for most of her life, Laticia’s life has always revolved around creating sisterhood and meaningful relationships—which is a central part of today’s conversation.

Laticia vulnerably shares her experience with her parent’s divorce, toxic relationships, and cheating. We talk about the lows that come from heartbreak, the comparison game, and the incessant checking of the other girl’s Instagram. We explore the reasons women don’t leave cheaters, and Laticia explains why she finally ended her toxic relationship. She expresses the importance of asking for help, especially when you start over.

We ask how Laticia began fostering her authentic self, particularly after being surrounded by high-profile individuals and extreme wealth, which influenced who she ‘had’ to be. A huge takeaway from our conversation is how we need to stop comparing ourselves to other women, and begin owning the beauty and uniqueness that is YOU.

We also talk about:

  • Why Laticia loves modeling
  • Defining loyalty after toxic relationships
  • Gas-lighting
  • Women’s intuition
  • Laticia’s inner dialogue while being cheated on
  • Fighting for yourself and choosing yourself
  • The role guilt plays in women’s lives
  • Having a girl squad when you’re a kid
  • What Laticia is proud of right now
  • Being patient and present to your life
